& Grant-Writing Support for Artists

I support emerging, established artists, and small not-for-profit organizations—primarily in Vancouver, and across Canada and internationally—by offering clear, strategic guidance for grant writing, proposals, and career development. I am an independent anti-disciplinary artist, writer, consultant, grant assessor, and educator, and the co-executive director of MENA Film Festival in Vancouver. I have assessed 400+ applications by artists and arts organizations and secured more than $750K in art funding. My practice in performance, film, media, and interdisciplinary work, informs how I help artists articulate ideas with clarity and intention. My approach is precise, thoughtful, and rooted in both artistic practice and industry insight. I value transparency, care, and play. My goal is to make complex processes understandable and achievable.

Experience

I have worked with artists across Vancouver, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East in visual arts, performance, media arts, film, and interdisciplinary practices.

My background includes:

    Canada Council for the Arts, BC Arts Council, Richmond City, Creative BC, and local arts organizations

  • 30+ funding programs navigated for individuals and organizations

  • $750K CAD in grants secured collectively for myself and other artists

  • 19 personal grants received from major funders including Canada Council, BC Arts Council, the National Film Board, and Mophradat

  • Instructor at Emily Carr University of Art + Design (Continuing Studies), teaching grants, exhibitions, and residency applications

Artists I’ve mentored often submit their first grant, exhibition, or residency applications shortly after our initial sessions—with many going on to successful outcomes.

Approach

I work directly and efficiently. I understand how arts councils evaluate proposals, and I don’t waste your time or resources.

If your project isn’t ready, I will tell you immediately—and help you identify what steps you do need to take.

If your project shows strong potential, I will work with you to shape it into a compelling, well-structured application and ensure you have all the necessary materials before you apply.

Evaluating your project’s readiness

  • Editing and providing detailed feedback

  • Creating project budgets (a major part of what I see artists struggle with and where I can support)

  • Writing and refining artist statements grounded in contemporary discourse

What I Don’t Do

I do not write entire applications on your behalf.
My goal is to equip you with the tools to write confidently and independently in the future.

Beyond Grants

Many artists approach me seeking grant support but discover through the session that they first need a residency, exhibition, or clearer project development. In those cases, I help identify and pursue the right opportunities to build a strong foundation for future funding applications. I help them identify residencies, exhibitions, and opportunities that strengthen their practice and prepare them for later grant success.

  • 1:1 sessions (60–75 minutes): $150 CAD + tax

  • Written grant review without meeting: starting at $150 CAD
    (Recommended once you have substantial materials ready for feedback.)
